Top SAVOR® brand Liquid Mold Inhibitor Product Overview

Are you tired of getting that nasty layer of spoiled silage just under the silo cover - sometimes a thick layer of spoilage?

When it comes to putting up silage, you do everything right, from planting the best silage hybrids to keeping your chopper knives sharp, to getting maximum compaction of your forage. Yet no matter how well you weight down heavy plastic to seal the silo, that layer of spoiled silage is inevitable -- unless you take one additional step. Kemin offers a specialty product to control spoilage in the top layer of a bunker so it won't contaminate the rest of the silage mass. Top SAVOR® brand liquid mold inhibitor is a high-level, liquid organic acid-based product that can be sprayed directly on the top layer of silage before sealing the bunker or closing the upright silo. When used in conjunction with a broad-spectrum silage preservative such as Silage SAVOR® brand Plus Liquid Preservative or a microbial inoculant such as Kem Lac® brand silage inoculant, you can expect a more uniform silage mass from top to bottom.

Usage Tips:

• Harvest forage at proper moisture and maturity.
• Clean silo before ensiling a new crop.
• Chop to 3/8" to ½" length. Roll or crack high moisture grains.
• Apply Top SAVOR at the recommended application rate (see specification sheet) with an approved applicator to make sure it is thoroughly mixed in the feed.
• Compact forage well to eliminate trapped air.
• Apply Top SAVOR brand Liquid Mold Inhibitor.
• Cover bunker silos with weighted black plastic immediately after filling.
• Leave silo sealed until fermentation is complete.
• Regularly monitor the heating and microbial stability of your silage.
